I am writing to thank you all for the outstanding work and care of Ariadne this year. It was a pleasure to find her totally ready for use when we boarded her in July. All involved should be commended for their meticulous work on plumbing and refrigeration. What a pleasure it has been to work with you all.

Stew Hart has been the broker at Great Island Yacht Brokerage since August of 2000.  He’s a member of the Yacht Broker’s Association of America and has earned the designation of Certified Professional Yacht Broker (CPYB).  Stew excels at putting willing sellers and willing buyers together and at working with each party to successfully close the sale. He is familiar with both sail and power boats, and has brokered all types of previously owned boats -- from locally built wooden Pulsifer Hamptons to sail or power long distance cruisers.  Stew particularly enjoys helping people find and purchase the boat that meets their needs and has traveled throughout the Eastern United States with clients as a buyer’s broker.

Stew’s career in the marine industry began in Southwest Harbor where he worked for Bass Harbor Marine and the Henry Hinckley Company. Later, he spent over twenty years as a sales representative for Manset Marine Supply, a wholesale supplier of marine equipment and accessories. He first worked for Manset in Western New York, servicing accounts from western Lake Ontario to Erie, Pennsylvania, and then moved back to Maine in 1982 to work the Southern Maine territory, covering the coast and lake areas.

Stew’s boating experience includes sailboat racing on the Great Lakes and in the Northeast. He has participated in yacht deliveries in the waters of Maine, Northern New England, Virginia, Florida and the USVI. Recently he has cruised in New England and the Maritimes, and crewed on a trans-Atlantic delivery and a transit through the Panama Canal.

Stew is a licensed Captain and lives with his wife Barbara in Maine aboard  S/V La Luna, their 47 foot Pedrick designed Cheoy Lee, center cockpit cutter. In addition to enjoying the sailing and live-aboard lifestyle, this has also allowed Stew to hone his skills and understanding of marine systems, upgrades and repair, increasing his value to his customers. From delivery crew to yard manager, to marine products sales, to yacht brokerage, Stew brings wide ranging experience and knowledge to Great Island Yacht Brokerage.
