This Lyman-Morse 46 is ready for a new name. The GIBY finish team recently brought the old transom back to life for new owners, with a convincing temporary fix. Though looking good now, the plan is to replace the transom next winter – to address voids known to be lurking below the wood surface.

To achieve a glow for this summer, Cameron machine and hand-sanded the old transom back to “even grain” and then employed a quick high-build technique using PPV, an Epifanes product. After seven coats of PPV, he then top-coated the surface with a typical oil-based Epifanes finish.
