A new item on the winter worklist for this Jarvis Newman 36 is a charging system overhaul. Inspection of the current system has revealed that it is, in fact, vintage and not up to ABYC standards. Undersized, daisy-chained wires are being deleted and replaced with new battery cables, and proper fusing is being added. After load testing the battery bank, it is has also been recommended that the owner replace the old batteries and charger. A new schematic is now being sketched for final approval. This update will make a classic boat safer and more functional, as well as more reliable at sea.
