Alianza’s Restoration

PROJECT UPDATE – MAY 2015:  The demolition work on the rotten and broken frames and sister frames was completed in April.  One month later, our crew has finished the work of steaming, bending, laminating and fastening 40 new frames in the 1947 Alden ketch Alianza.

Now we’ll begin the process of re-installing the interior and ceiling, painting and varnishing inside and out, and rigging her to sail by mid-July.  This classic beauty will be going strong once again!

Hope this is old news, and that Alianza is sailing again. I have 1970s photos if a new owner is interested.

Alianza sails every summer out of Chatham, MA. She winters and undergoes regular maintenance and refit work at Safe Harbor Great Island in Harpswell, Maine. You’ll be glad to know she still turns heads. If you’d like to send photos/articles our way, we’ll share them with the current owner. Our mailing address is 419 Harpswell Islands Road, Harpswell, Maine 04079. Send to the attention of Kristin. Thank you.
