November Comings & Goings

Time to go inside!  Almost all of the boats in our care have either safely arrived down south or been hauled and placed in their winter homes, with two final arrivals being delivered this weekend.  At the beginning of the month, we bid farewell to Rich and Sam, and the crew of Aurora as they headed off to the Grenadines and BVI.  Last Tuesday, we said goodbye to the last boat leaving GIBY’s docks headed for a warmer destination, WinWard – wishing fair winds to Matt and Rhonda and their family as they make the passage down the intracoastal to Florida.

New arrivals this month included Dreadnought, a Vicem LOA 70′.   She went straight into our paint bay for a “whole new look” with Al and Nate performing glass repairs and applying Awlgrip to her hull.  We also welcomed the crew onboard Alianza, a classic Alden Ketch built in 1947.

In the past couple of weeks, we went from short sleeves and balmy weather (for November) to the first ice on Orrs Cove.  We’ve also had many visitors here lately; a couple of seals were swimming about in the shallows feasting on bait fish last week, and two bald eagles gave us a show, cruising up and down the cove together on Friday.

Here’s to a very Happy Thanksgiving for everyone.
