When David and Margaret C acquired their Paine 45 Weekender, built and launched by French & Webb in 2006, the boat was in good shape, but they had  a long list of modifications that would further customize and beautify the boat to support their sailing goals and personal aesthetic. They asked the GIBY team to manage the refit.

Work Scope:

  • Repair dings in cold molded epoxy wood hull
  • Paint gutters around teak deck & house
  • Clear-coat finish hull & house with Awlgrip
  • Modify mast & gooseneck to accommodate in-boom furling main sail
  • Install Offshore Spars furling boom
  • Bend on new Doyle main sail & genoa
  • Replace mainsheet traveler lines
  • Re-bed genoa turning blocks
  • Remove and re-bed hatches
  • Install new water tanks under forward berth
  • Inspect steering system
  • Mount new B&G instruments, run cable & interface
  • Service sail drive
  • Design & fabricate new dinghy hoist system
  • Extend toe rails aft
  • Fabricate cabinetry for additional stowage in galley
  • Fabricate mahogany cup holders, install in cockpit
  • Fabricate anchor roller extension & fairlead
  • Fabricate & install anchor scuff plates
  • Remove bow pulpit
  • Redesign lifelines at bow, plunge to a sporty angle
  • Fabricate & install stainless steel deck plate to support new life line design
  • Fabricate & install new deck-mounted LED navigation lights
  • Wire navigation lights
  • Modify anchor rode chute
  • Test sail
