After having this boat built and spending several years aboard, the owners asked Great Island to do a major refit, resolving issues and further customizing the vessel to meet their personal specifications. The goal was prepare the boat for a new routine, sailing her south each winter, but a significant part of the refit also included a highly involved refinishing process to restore and preserve the boat’s aluminum decks and house.
Work Scope:
- Refinish aluminum decks, house & bottom – media blast, prime, protect
- Awlgrip paint deck, house & non-skid
- Remove, replace & isolate all hatches and hardware – separating dissimilar metals w/ Delrin pads to prevent corrosion
- Modify rigid dodger – fabricate rain shield to redirect runoff away from cockpit companionway
- Polish hull – restore original aluminum luster
- Wire boom for cockpit lighting
- Fabricate teak grate for base of ice box
- Spec & splice all new running rigging
- Repair bent foils on furler
- Replace gooseneck, boom track, and mandrel mast track
- Service windlass
- Inspect steering system
- Replace teak decking in cockpit
- Replace & replumb cockpit drains
- Build an adjustable dinette table
- Fabricate entertainment center & nav station bookshelf
- Replace fixed windows
- Spec & wire a bank of Firefly microcell carbon foam batteries
- Install USB ports
- Upgrade stereo components & add speaker zones
- Spec & install hardtop solar array
- Add Sound Down around engine compartment & cockpit hatch
- Interior carpentry – customize built-ins, shelves, drawers & step-ups to owner specifications
- Fabricate cherry fiddles for galley counter
- Repair veneers around portlights
- Varnish interior
- Rebuild saltwater washdown pump
- Service seacocks
- Service engine, Aqua Drive & running gear
- Service heating system
- Replace two heads & holding tank sensors
- Rebuild macerator pumps
- New cockpit & interior cushions
- Replace Tender
