Last week, the GIBY team eliminated old teak decks on a Hylas 54 and prepared the remaining fiberglass surfaces to receive a protective hull guard substrate. Today, with that surface fully cured, the team began “skinning” the substrate with Awlfair to fill any remaining voids. Tomorrow, the boat will be moved out of the refit bay and into the paint bay for sanding, masking, and painting the decks and house. Applying a custom non-skid pattern will be the final step in the deck replacement process.
