A Boat with Sole

Jeff is wrapping up replacement and restoration of the cabin sole on a Westerly 57. To match the new sole with the existing one, Jeff has carefully fabricated and glued panels of teak and maple veneer in place. Now he is sanding all to a consistent color and smooth finish. When he is done, varnish will be applied to the entire cabin sole, bow to stern.

The sole was initially removed to accommodate repair work that GIBY was doing to the boat’s keel joint and structural gridwork following a hard grounding. While the floor was out, the owner took advantage of the access provided and had the GIBY team update the boat’s electrical system as well.
